Valerie Krupp

Rector of the University of Music Mainz

“The University of Music Mainz is the only music conservatory in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, combining artistic excellence, teaching, and research under one roof. Approximately 360 young individuals pursue studies at our institution, spanning a wide range of programs from Bachelor’s degrees to Concert Exam/Master Class studies in areas such as Classical Music, Jazz/Popular Music, Church Music, Organ, Music Education, Elementary Music Pedagogy, Music Theory, and Sound Art. In addition, we offer various opportunities to support outstanding students, such as the Baroque Vocal Academy, Gutenberg Jazz Collective, or Gutenberg Chamber Music Campus. With the GRADUS International Piano Academy Mainz, our piano department now has access to a new excellence program.

Thanks to the visionary initiative of Prof. Sae-Nal Lea Kim, professor of piano at our conservatory, we are proud to present an extraordinary and groundbreaking format. Through GRADUS, we invite students to embark on the journey towards artistic excellence as an ever-evolving and inspiring path, approached with courage, dedication, and joy in discovery. This project brings together exceptional students from Mainz with outstanding young musicians from around the world. It creates a space for musical exchange at the highest level and fosters an inspiring atmosphere of shared learning and growth. Such encounters are invaluable—not only for artistic development but also for the personal and professional growth of our students. They promote openness, creativity, and the courage to explore new directions.

I wish all participants days filled with music, inspiration, and fruitful collaboration. May these experiences become an unforgettable enrichment for each of you.

A warm welcome to the GRADUS International Piano Academy Mainz!”
